Available as of 6/9/10: We have 3 gilts and 4 boars available from 2 different litters. Each gilt can be matched up with a boar from the other litter to make breeding pairs.
One litter is out of DNC Buttercup and Pleasant ridge Dandelion, born May 30. Buttercup is Ohio line (both his parents were foundation stock) and Dandelion is out of Brothers Al and Skyfire Mertle. She's 1/4 Virginia line, 9/16 Nebraska line and 3/16 Ohio line. These pigs will be weaned and ready to go July 11.
Pricing and Shipping Policies: Registration papers are included in the price of breeding stock. Health certificates for traveling or shipping out of state (if required) are the responsibility of the buyer, and usually cost $25 for young pigs plus $20 for my labor if I make the trip to the vet. The price is usually the same for one or more pigs - i.e. three young pigs would cost $45 for the group.
We're willing to hold pigs for up to 6 weeks (with a deposit), until you can arrange transportation. We're located in Southern Indiana, two hours south of Indianapolis, one hour northwest of Louisville, KY, and about 4 hours east of St. Louis, MO.
We are also willing to ship pigs younger than 9 months by air. The cost may vary from around $300-$450. Part of this cost ($50 to $75) is our labor for transporting to the airport, obtaining paperwork, a crate etc., and this cost would be the same for one pig or several. The crates cost about $40 each, but are useful to have around the farm, and the actual shipping fee charged by the airline is usually about $200 per animal. |
